New buildings update

Our Aim "To work with the people of Hoima Uganda to improve the delivery of healthcare"

New buildings update

Today we had a tour inside the new hospital buildings. One is a maternity / surgical / casualty building and one is an outpatients department. The theatre area contains 2 theatres (one for obstetrics and one for general surgery). They are equipped with new anaesthetic machines, monitoring equipment and emergency lighting. There is an adjacent 4 bedded HDU. There is a 3 bedded casualty area on the ground floor. Upstairs is the maternity ward. Disappointingly, we discovered today that the plan is for the existing labour ward to stay where it is and the new unit will be just a 40 bedded postnatal ward.

The OPD department has 7 clinic rooms, a pharmacy and a laboratory. Upstairs is all dental clinics and treatment rooms. Once the buildings are completed and approved by the ministry of health, staff will be trained and orientated to the new areas.
